We have four baby gates in our house (my wife now refers to our house as a "gated community"), and we use wall protectors for all of them. We have been quite happy with this particular rectangular model (when used in the appropriate locations -- see below). They are easy to install, their rubber grip minimizes slippage of the gate, and they leave very little marking behind on the wall when they are removed. They have a small surface area, though, which makes them more apt to dent a wall than a larger surface model. For this reason these may not be a good choice except for places where you cannot fit a larger wall protector.Wall protectors come in several different shapes and sizes, which is good because baby and pet gates can be installed in different types of locations (staircases, doorways, large walls, etc.). It is important to select the proper wall protector based on where you plan to place your gate. So...---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------A FEW GENERAL PRINCIPLES ABOUT WALL PROTECTORS----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------1) Wall protectors don't just protect your walls from dents and scratches; they also usually provide a better grip between the gate and the wall. This means your toddler or pet will have a harder time pushing the gate out of place (though they will still try!).2) Almost all wall protectors will still leave a small mark on your wall, especially if it's painted drywall. There are ways to minimize the mark left behind, but it's probably unrealistic to expect absolutely no evidence that you had a gate installed. The protectors do, at least, help minimize the risk of DENTS in the wall.3) A larger wall protector will generally have a lower risk of denting your wall than a smaller one because it will distribute the pressure from the gate over a larger area of the wall.4) On the other hand, the larger the wall protector, the farther that contact point of the gate will end up being from adjacent structures like the floor. For example, with a large circular wall protector, the opening where you fit the gate's tension screw is a few inches from the edge of the protector, which means the bottom of the gate will be an inch or two off the floor. Obviously having the horizontal bar at the bottom of the gate's opening floating a few inches off the floor would create a tripping hazard!5) Therefore, in general the best wall protector to use for each of your gate's contact points is the one with the largest surface area that will fit into the space without displacing the gate. (Obviously I'm ignoring aesthetics here...)With those principles in mind, let's consider three of the most common shapes of wall protectors for baby gates and where they might best be used:1) Round: These wall protectors are usually 5-6" in diameter, with an opening in the center where you insert the gate's tension screws. Their biggest advantage is creating less pressure on your walls due to their size (which is especially important against drywall). However, they won't fit in some places and they probably shouldn't be used against the floor, where they could prevent your gate from sitting flush against the floor. So use them on your gate's upper contact points wherever you have a large wall space.2) Rectangular: These are usually about 2" x 6". They put slightly more pressure on your walls than the large circular protectors, but they fit into places the circular ones won't. I suggest using these in two types of places:- In the horizontal orientation for ALL lower gate supports, EXCEPT in places where your horizontal wall space is only a few inches (such as the bottom of a narrow door frame). This will allow you to position the gate as close to the floor as possible.- In the vertical orientation for UPPER gate supports in a narrow door frame.3) Square (such as this product): These are typically about 2" x 2" -- in other words, not much larger than the gate support. I would use these in only one place: for the LOWER gate support at the bottom of a narrow door frame, where really nothing else would fit. Read more

I had a rather big problem with a dog gate I purchased a few years ago.The adjustable pressure mount cups were continually loosening and/or sliding off the wall causing the gate to come crashing down. I also noticed that it was digging into the wallpaper to the point that it was leaving small tears.I needed some sort of grip to keep the mount cups in place.A quick Amazon search brought me to this product. Wasn't sure it would work, but for the small cost, I bought it blindly.I simply inserted the gate cups into the Wall Nanny cups and tightened the pressure mount. The rubber grip on the Nanny Cups ensures that the gate is not going to slide -- and it no longer does. This low-cost addition to my pet gate made all the difference in the world. My pet gate now stands more firmly than it ever has and I don't have to worry about it coming loose, or being knocked down when my two dogs are jumping on it.This was a real life-saver. I highly recommend this product. Read more

These worked out perfect for what we needed it for! I take care of multiple kids during the week, and I was paranoid that they would knock down the older, wooden baby gate at the top of the basement stairs...and then it happened. So I purchased a new gate, extra pressure mount screws (longer ones for more stability), and the wall nanny mini protectors. I can say with confidence that these bad boys have put my mind at ease. It holds the gate in place and is VERY sturdy, even with the kids literally hanging on it like they’re trying to make bail.I highly recommend these (make sure you order the right size for your pressure mounts for maximum hold) so that the gate doesn’t ruin your walls and door jambs. I was on amazon searching for a new baby gate for my stairs. The current gate I have was just a little bit too small to reach across the stairway and would not stay secured because one side is on a round post instead of a flat wall. Then I found the wall nanny. Not only does it protect my wall from being damaged by the gate, it also gave me a couple more inches to get the gate to extend very tightly and securely and also works on the slightly round log posts I have on one side. Great product and only took a couple of minutes to install. Holds very securely even with lots of traffic up and down stairs and multiple gate openings/closings. Love it! Read more

This was a very simple solution on how could we install our Regalo gate without damaging our brand new stairs. It is not recommended to use a pressure mounted gate at the top of stairs, but we feel this is fine for our child and his lack of interest in the gate. I do know some children push and run at gates - so use judgement. We had these gates installed at our last house without these additional pieces and the gate scratched up that wall and we were not able to get it as tightly secure. These are very small and visually nice. Functionally because they are small they work in a lot more situations than if they needed a larger flat surface area. Read more

I bought these after being recommended them by another shopper, I bought 2 sets as they came highly recommended and I really needed my baby gates to stop slipping. I must say I'm very happy with these and will buy again for sure. The pads are very sturdy and rigid, combined with the non-slip pads and small size and these bad boys will fit just about anywhere; I found the small square shape actually to be super helpful to let the gates rest naturally on the base boards or floors, and to help you line up the tops and bottoms of the gates. No more kids getting into the wrong rooms and no more gates Read more

These do exactly as they are intended. They protect our new paintwork from the pressure and scratches of our babygates. They do the job really well but they are a lot more expensive than others on the market. Are they worth the extra money? My wife thought not, so when we bought an extra babygate she bought a cheaper version. The cheaper version do exactly the same job, but are a lot larger in width than the Wall Nanny Mini. So, if you want a discreet way of protecting your walls from your babygates and willing to pay that extra little bit, then yeah they are worth it. So, as mentioned these are exactly as you'd imagine them to be, slightly smaller than I thought they'd be, which is a good thing, I was worried they'd be 'oversized' and take up more room than they do, the only downside that I have found is that due to the amount of pressure you put them under against the way, I noticed that when I moved the stair gate a few hours later as I wasn't happy with the position, they left an imprint on the skirting board, the imprint was the name - "Wall Nanny" - which is why I docked a star from them, otherwise, it would have been a 5-star rating. So maybe a slight redesign to not have the name sitting so proud from the back would get rid of this issue, otherwise, I'm totally happy with them Read more

So I bought this to protect the wall from scrapes etc which I suppose it does except when we moved the baby gate from its position they’ve left marks on the wall that say wall nanny which kinda makes this product a little pointless as we now have to repaint anyway. Read more

I’ve made a couple of purchases of these wall nannies and they do exactly as they say on the tin.I have used with pressure fit gates on my doors and the squares help to install the gate nice and level as well as removing the requirement to screw the gate onto the wall. No marks left on the door frame.I also use on the stairs and the pads did leave a little mark on the paint but nothing a quick wipe with water didn’t fix. Read more
