Shipping was fast. In fact, I received my Sleep Therapy Pillow Speakers within two days of placing the order and four days before my Sound Oasis Sound Therapy machine arrived. I decided to try the speakers with my cell phone’s white noise app while waiting for my sound machine. To my consternation, the sound from the speakers when plugged to my cell was very faint. I could hardly hear any sounds even with my ear next to these speakers. My immediate thought was… “I should have listened to those one-star reviews I read but chose to ignore...These are either going to the trash or ask for a refund”. Well, when my white noise sound machine arrived, I plugged the speakers to the unit and, long and behold, the sound coming from these pillow speakers was loud and clear! I learned that there was nothing wrong with the speakers. It was that my cell phone did not provide enough power to drive the pillow speakers. So, if you plan to use them with your smartphone, make sure your device will supply enough output wattage for the pillow speakers to work properly.Speakers’ technical specifications:Jack: 1/8” (3.5 mm) plugOutput: 4 ohms, 2-watt speakersSize each speaker: 2-1/2” x 2-1/2” with rounded corners and edges. The pillow speakers are attached to a volume control box and they can be as loud as the sound unit it is plugged to (but not louder). The cord between the speakers is long enough so you can place one on each end and of a large king size pillow, on top and inside the pillow case. The speaker at the open end did not stay in place and kept sliding out. So,I folded the edge of my pillow case and placed the speaker, on that end, inside the folded edge to prevent it from slipping out. Overall, for the price, I am happy with them. They are lightweight with decent stereo sound. Read more
I'm on my 5th set of these - I bought the latest set in April, and like all the others the extension speaker has started shorting out, so you end up with just a single working speaker. This has happened with every set I've gotten. It's a shame that the manufacturer can't fix this issue, because otherwise I'm very satisfied with them. So you need to understand that it's a limited life product. Read more
My husband jokes that I can hear a rabbit hop fifty yards away, and that is probably true. As a result, I'm in the "extremely light sleep category".This is a really nice product for those nights when you absolutely can not screen out noise any other way. I've tried everything - air filters, white noise on my phone, white noise machines. You name it, I've bought it. These tuck nicely under your pillow and so they do not disturb the entire room. I did not feel them, even with a memory foam pillow. They worked extremely well and I now use them on the nights when my regular options just don't cut it. The only reason that I don't use these nightly is that they have to attached to your phone (of course) and they use up battery really quickly if you use a white noise app. It is personal choice, but I tried sleeping with the phone plugged in but could not reach my bed. A longer connection would solve this. Read more
Very disappointing. Was hoping this would help me sleep by blasting white noise 'through' my pillow to help block out my tinnitus. It was packed well an i was impressed by the detail that was put into ithowever it's max vol on it an my phone did not push enough to hear well through my pillow.also one of the speakers didn't work out the box so i can't recommend this . I can use these without my partner hearing what I'm listening to in bed. But they are slippery and hard. There are only a few places where they fit well and they tend to slip out of place. When I move, the sound changes dramatically, as it is very dependent on how close to your ear the speaker is. If my head is on them, they are really lumpy and hard. Not ideal, but they work for a short time, which is usually enough for me to fall asleep. I'm getting better at using them, but they aren't a five star item for me at this point. Read more
Arrived today. Is not powered. Only uses volume from device. Inline volume control is either off or on. Amazon will not allow return - says not eligible for return. Complete waste of money. Only good point - it's cheap. Read more
I sewed these into a tube sock around 12" apart and then safety pinned the sock under the pillow with each speaker where I want it. Put a pillow case or 2 over it and voila. This way it stays exactly where you want, under your head but out of the way and you hardly notice it's there. Sound is just loud enough for sleep noisemakers, low music, late night youtubes, hypnosis apps etc. Won't bother your partner. Takes pillow punching abuse fairly well. I'm now buying my second one set. Read more
I’ll admit it is partly my fault for not being more careful when I ordered, but these are useless for me as I am hard of hearing and the volume is too low when I take my aids out at night and I bought it to use with a white noise sleep aid. A somewhat more careful reading if the listing shows that they do actually sell another with greater volume....looks the same and the only difference apart from price, is product number 100 vs 101. Duh. I do wonder if manufacturers stop to think about actual customers. Read more
I suffer with roaring tinnitus, some nights it is worse than others. These are really useful for when it is bad and I can't sleep. I use natural noises such as rain and waves that kind of thing, to help take my mind off the tinnitus and these speakers work well for that, as you do not need too much clarity for the sound. However I could imagine that if you were wanting to use these for music with lyrics in, or to listen to pod casts, then they are not great because I just don't think the quality of the sound would be up to scratch. So for me a good investment, but if it is sound quality you are after, then maybe not for you. Read more
I had low expectations for sound quality as listening to music/spoken word through a pillow is always going to be a bit challenging. But these speakers are useless for spoken content as they do not project any higher pitched/hissing type sounds well - or alt all... (the word 'relaxed' sounds like 'rela' etc) so even when cranking up the volume half of the text is missed while the sound overall gets painful and tinny. Other reviews say they are fine (maybe they have thinner pillows or listen to music?) and I can see how having two rather than just one speaker is a good thing, also I am sure sound quality could be even worse... but these aren't any good. particularly annoying as I did not realise they cannot be returned. I ended up just putting my phone/ipod on very low volume and placing it half under my pillow - place it right and you get the desired effect: ok sound quality and no one else can hear. Read more
Honestly don't waste your money! Purchased to use with my smart phone app to help with my tinnitus and not disturb my husband. I had read the previous reviews so was hopeful that if I placed the speakers between the pillow and pillowcase on full volume on both the phone and speaker I would be able to hear it. I couldn't hear a thing unless I pressed my ear into one of the speakers which is obviously uncomfortable but also impractical. You wouldn't have a chance if it was placed under the pillow as suggeted! I can ill afford to waste money but this is one of the more useless products I have wasted money on!!!! Read more
These were recommended for my tinnitus sleep machine and they are great. I have a very thick large pillow and I have no problem hearing the sound through it.Make sure both sound on machine and speakers is on high , then adjust as needed through machine. work great and as there are 2 speakers where ever my head is on my pillow I can hear it. I bought this as I am an insomniac.I can place the speakers under my pillow and listen to music or soothing sleep therapy stuff without disturbing my partner. The volume is adjusted by means of an inline control. One must set the volume on ones MP3 player or whatever to max. The volume output surprised me; rather than earplug level, it is more like a loudspeaker. Perhaps there is an amplifier built in?Of course the sound is muffled by the pillow on top, so it is no good for speech unless on max volume. Also don't expect HIFI.Realistically though, it does a good job, all things considered. Certainly a lot better than trying to rest with earplugs poking you and wires all wrapped round your neck.
