With so many different brands, it is hard to tell what are the good quality essential oils and what is genuine or not. This brand of Star Anise oil seems to be comparable in quality to any in the same price range that I have tried. For the price, it seems like decent quality oil. How pure though is hard to say without doing some lab test.Star Anise has sort of a sharp, spicy, black licorice smell to me and although licorice is not my favorite snack to eat, this does smell pretty good. With its sharp, spicy smell, this oil works well for a diffuser, especially if you are having congestion, like I chronically do with my sinuses. This is supposed to help with digestive issues, although I am a bit skeptical on that. I have been suffering from terrible night sweats because of menopause. I put a few drops of this in my diffuser during the day and by bedtime, I have less sweating events! This, of course, is not a medicine or a cure but I really believe this oil has decreased my horrible night sweats! It is also a great "pick me up" in the afternoon and around workout time, there is an easy blend recipe on the bottle, (thank you Plant Therapy)! I have made a tea from anise seed for a long time, mostly for coughs, and it is very effective. This is the first time I have diffused the essential oil. It works even better as your body and brain respond more quickly to the aromatherapy. I diffused 4 drops star anise, 3 drops lemon and 1 drop peppermint essential oil. We have a new Husky puppy and he's not really interested in toys, so after some web searching I found this product which a couple other reviews state they've used for the same purpose. I love star anise in my dishes and so I was excited to try this essential oil. This smells great and a little goes a very long way.
