I grew tired of watching my bride struggle with the lighting and mirrors she had, so, after more years than I care to admit, I found this luscious number. The polish on the mirror itself is superb. The construction, instructions, provided hardware and ease of installation were appropriate. There is a spare light bulb provided (wonderful). The instructions even specify the light bulb's wattage (yeah!)There are, however, two gloomy little portions to this lovely, nicely-built product: the brass plating and weight.On the product I received, there is a tell-tale spot where the brass plating looks to be color and color alone; not brass at all. Though it is not noticeable when using the product, the fingertip-sized smudge of chrome where there should be brass on the housing is a dud. This means the product housing is chrome and not brass and, therefore, will not have the longevity I assumed when I chose it. Next, the weight. This product arrives with molly bolts, good for pulling out a whole section of wallboard if you're not circumspect about where and how you install this bad boy. For a sure mount, use a board that is at least a quarter-inch thick and make sure to tie it into the studs within the wall assembly. It should look like a level strip of wood, solidly attached to the wall before you finish it completely. Next, you'll have to unscrew it from the wall, then paint or finish it to match the wall you're attaching to. Use flathead wood screws to anchor your backing board so that you'll have something strong on which to mount the mirror's base.This is a project that requires patience.Once you've done the above, you'll have a great product with enough magnification to see clean through to your brains!CUT TO: November 2014 (about two years after the first review)The whole mirror assembly was working perfectly until now. The light bulb wouldn't light. No problem, SEE ALL provided me with an extra bulb. Installing the new bulb was very easy, painless even. And the two-year-old bulb looked in perfect condition, not one burn mark. I turned the switch, and still no light. I dug a bit deeper and learned that it was not the bulb but the SWITCH that was failing. (The wiring was in pristine condition.) So I wrote to the manufacturer for a replacement switch. No reply, fellow mirror shoppers. So, if you purchase, be aware that if you're neither electrician nor tinkerer, you'll have to replace the whole mirror. (It costs twice as much today.) Read more

I looked all over for a lighted magnifying mirror and was shocked to see the 3-figure price-tags from most companies! When I saw this one on Amazon for much less money, I took a chance and I'm glad I did. The fit and finish of this mirror is excellent. It is totally comparable to the mirrors that cost twice as much; in fact is there nothing cheap about the way it's made. This is a quality product that shows good, careful craftsmanship. Read more

As I've gotten older it's gotten more difficult for me to see when I am applying my make up. This mirror is the perfect solution. The style is beautiful and mounted in my bathroom it looks great. I really like this mirror. I had seen my first like mirror in a nice London hotel this summer - had to have one! The first one I ordered was a 10x. I did not like it - was concave and also magnification so high I could hardly focus. So I returned that one and got the 5x with surrounding light. Just love it! Light could be a little brighter but since we have good lighting in our bathroom it works well. I would recommend this mirror to anyone. Read more

I purchased this about a week ago, based on another review I read. I have to agree- this product seems a great vlaue. Well made, and very functional. My wife love it.
