I'll be honest, I plugged this in and set it up before I even looked at the included instructions. It was only a matter of plugging in the power bricks and micro USB cables. It worked as soon as it had power.After a few hours the screen unit was fully charged (I'd left the screen on for testing the whole time.) I was able to then use it unplugged for three hours, but I went to sleep and put it back on the charger.I tried the camera at one end of my house and the screen can still receive at the other end (about 60 feet with three interior walls separating the units.When the room is dark, the camera automatically switched to night view mode, and everything is black and white then but quite viewable.The resolution of the screen isn't great - it's something like 1980s videotape resolution, and you can see some noise in the image, but nothing bad. The viewing angle of the screen isn't fantastic. In the horizontal. it's passable from about 45 degrees to either side of the center, but looks much better when you're viewing straight on. The vertical viewing angles of the screen are a bit worse, probably only decent at 30 degrees or less.The PTZ functions are pretty good. The camera is silent when moving. The zoom is digital, and it's on/off. You press the zoom and it digitally zooms the center of the image a bit. The camera can pan 350 degrees left to right, and since the camera can see out at an angle, you can view the entire 360 degrees around the camera. It takes 39 seconds to go through the entire 350-degree range.It can tilt up about 40 degrees and down about 20 degrees by my estimation. It's a shame because having more down tilt would probably more useful for a camera intended to be used as a baby monitor.The controls are all easy to use. The lullaby mode doesn't sound great in my opinion because the speaker on the camera isn't fantastic. It's functional.This is a good baby monitor. Setup is simple, controls are easy to use, and it works well. The reason I rate it at 4 stars instead of 5 is that better (down) tilt would make sense on this camera since putting it on a shelf or other relatively high area makes a lot of sense. Read more

What I like about this monitor is that it is simple to operate right out of the box and offers privacy. Just plug and play, no need to set up and fuss with connecting it through WiFi. The camera and monitor directly links and syncs to one another the moment it powers on. The hand held monitor comes pre-charged but only enough for you to set and test it out. It'll need to fully charge before using it full time. The baby camera needs to be plugged in at all times in order for it to work using a micro usb cord (which is included). The viewable screen is actually 1-7/8th" wide, small, yes, but practical as you only need to focus on your baby in his or her crib (not the entire room and it's decor/surrounding). The monitor is both color and night vision and while the resolution is not HD, it is clear enough to keep an eye on your baby day and night. As a bonus, there is a feature that lets you talk to baby from the monitor that directly feeds back out of the camera. This is especially useful if you are living in a bi-level home and just the sound of your voice is all that is needed to calm your baby back to sleep.I recommend this monitor because it is simple. Many moms and dads are already dealing with a lot, especially if you have a newborn, and just need something reliable and easy to use. My husband is very technologically advanced and is usually the one to set up anything that is electronic. Me, being a very pregnant wife in her nesting stage and due any moment, was not intimated to set this up on my own. It worked right out of the box and like I said, no need to connect to WiFi so it gives me peace of mind knowing the camera's can't be tapped into. I would be happy if someone gave this to me as a gift. So whether you are a new parent in need of a reliable baby monitor that doesn't cost so much or someone that is looking to give one as a gift, I highly recommend this. I deducted a star because the product title says it is a "Wireless Baby Camera" but the only unit wireless in this set is the baby monitor. The camera will need to be kept plugged in. It comes with 1 adapter and 2 micro USB cords, the longest being 5 feet long. So depending on where you place the camera, you may or may not need to substitute for a longer cord. Read more
