Okay....so I am a breastfeeding mamma but I also work full time so I knew my son would eventually have to take a bottle. I had registered for the Avent Naturals and the Dr. Brown's bottles and had gotten the Level 1 slow flow nipples like I was told. At about 3 weeks after breastfeeding was established, I started pumping and had my husband give my son a bottle to start getting him used to them. We started with the Avent and he did fine with them...but he finished the bottle so fast! He was done in less than 10 minutes but would nurse for a good 20 minutes on each side at a regular feeding. Even with the slowest fliw nipple the milk was dripping out of his mouth and he also spit up more. I researched bottles that were good for breastfed babies and found medela Calma and Breastflow. I ordered them and my son took both of them but he still would finish the bottle way too quickly. The whole issue with bottles in general for breastfed babies is that sometimes baby gets too used of the ease of getting milk with the bottle and doesn't want to go back to the breast. At the breast babies have to work for it. I didn't want to jeopardize our nursing relationship so I kept reading and found a few posts from moms who had recommended the preemie nipples from Dr. Brown's. I didn't even know they made preemie nipples. I thought..what the heck??! I got them in and it has made a huge difference. It takes my son a least 20 if not 30 minutes to finish a 3.5 - 4 ounce bottle. He has to work for it just like at the breast. And because he's not drowning in milk he doesn't drip or spit up anymore. Dr. Brown's really should market these for breastfed babies. I've told several friends who breastfeed about these and all have switched!! Read more
I’ve been struggling so much with my two week old. She was born two weeks early and has trouble latching. I had to introduce bottles right away to make sure she was eating enough. I’ve tried MAM bottles, evenflo, and Avent bottles which she had reflux with. She would spit up and get super fussy, interrupting her sleep, and mine! I ordered the 0m+ premie nipples to use with the standard Dr. Brown’s bottles and it is the only bottle that she has used that drastically decreased her spit up. This has been a lifesaver for my poor girl! Definitely recommend for babies with reflux or any eating issues. Read more
Tried to find lowest flow on the market. My daughter was breastfed but we were having trouble so I exclusively pump now. I wanted to get lowest flow nipple so I could eventually breastfeed again when I healed. I bought other lowflow "natural" bottles and she would choke and drown in milk. Once I got her these nipples feedings are much easier and milk flow seems less than my breasts so she won't reject them! And you can pop it on any Dr. Browns bottle! So happy!!!!!!!!! Read more
You cannot find preemie nipples in the stores (or at least that I have found) so we bought them online. They come packed in two's which was great for us because we can keep the extras sealed up until we need them. We had a group from the suck/swallow doctors team here tell us that these were the absolute best flow for breastfeeding babies (even though they aren't wide mouthed). They mimic the appropriate flow for babies who may be premature, breast fed and/or have issues with their suck or swallow. Our little guy was born 3 weeks early and spend a good amount of time in the NICU. He is exclusively on breastmilk, but took these with a bottle the first month while at the hospital and now he's in day care and still uses the preemie flow (3.5 months). The doctors tell us not to move him to the next size (size one) until he seems frustrated with the flow and so far - he's still doing great. Read more
These arrived promptly and were well packaged. These bottle nipples were a great choice. Our Granddaughter does not drown while I give her bottle feedings now. She nurses the bottle gently and serenely and has no gasping, choking, etc. like she did with the larger size. So glad I ordered these. These are not just for preemies. Our granddaughter is over 3 mos. old. She just seems more content with this size for now. Once you get used to these bottles - they are no more difficult to keep clean than regular bottles. Read more
I love these nipples and have been using them since birth to 1) temper the speed of feeding to ensure my child feels full at the end of her meal and doesn't ask for more food before the feeling of fullness has hit, 2) minimize saliva going back into the bottle of formula to minimize the need to throw formula away (tiny hole here.)I use these nipples in conjunction with Dr. Brown's vented bottles to minimize the amount of air my child swallows and consequently gas she experiences. I've used these to bottlefeed my daughter from the first week of life and I've not experienced "nipple confusion" -- our breastfeeding relationship is still fantastic! Read more
These bottle nipples are amazing ! My newborn was having trouble with other nipples . I would buy 0 months and the flow was still to fast but with these it is perfect ! Very fast delivery ! Awesome customer service and amazing quality product ! The packaging is also very nice so nothing happens to your nipples . This is my second time buying them !:) Read more
My son is 11 months old and still uses these preemie nipples. When he was littler, I had to battle with him to breastfeed over taking a bottle. He loved the bottle because it was so easy for him to get milk. I searched and searched for bottle nipples that would make him work a little more so nursing wouldn't be such a struggle. These nipples are the absolute best for breastfed babies; it allows your little one to pace a little better and not be so preferential to the easiness of a bottle. As an aside, the Br. Brown nipples have the same shape as the Dr. Brown silicone pacifiers, which are also excellent. Read more
These worked very well for my baby as size 1 flow was too much for her even though she was not a preemie. She is 5 months now and we continue to use these as they work very well for her. Definitely reccomend for anyone who finds that their baby is spilling/spitting out a lot of milk with the size 1. Very happy with this purchase. Read more
We bought these for our baby who was born at 34 weeks. He had feeding issues and the flow of this nipple was perfect for him. The price is a little steep for two nipples, though. Read more
The flow is slower than size 1, but it leaks, even when used with big and small Dr. Brown's bottles. It's also the same size and their size 1 nipple which I didn't expect. Read more
Easy to find and purchase compared to most stores not carrying the item. Read more
We are using Dr. Brown bottles and baby was getting formula too fast thru the standard level 1 nipples. These solved the problem so he is more comfortable drinking (even though he's not a preemie). I only wish they came in pkgs of 3 instead of 2 since the bottles came in a pkg of 3. Read more
