I have two of these, and I really enjoy both of them. This one in particular is different than the other one I have because it is a gel pack inside of the little giraffe. I like that it is a gel pack because I can keep it in the freezer for if my kid ever needs it, but can also quickly take it out and warm it up so it makes it very versatile. As far as using this for a baby, I think this would work perfect other than it is a little large. It takes up most of my 10 month olds belly when I put it on him. I had a friend come over with a newborn and it was the size of his torso, so it is a little big, but I just take that as it will work for my kids longer. The material is very soft and nice, I am glad that the gel pack comes out so that I can wash the band part if needed. My toddler likes to have me put this on him when he lays down on the couch, he tells me it helps him relax. My kids have not had an upset stomach yet, but I can see them requesting this when they do. This penguin “belly hugger” is simply adorable. I had a colicky baby and the fussing and screaming is no fun, none at all. There’s a microwavable gel pack that can be inserted into the body of the wrap. It can only be used hot, unlike one I have with a gel pack that can also be used cold. This gel pack can’t be used in the freezer like some. There are instructions that let me know how to warm the pack in the microwave right on the pack itself.The soother or belly wrap is soft and cuddly. The way to wrap it around and infant’s body is by Velcro. If nothing else, the wrap will be a distraction. Along with a massage to the baby’s tummy, the wrap will definitely help. I ordered this baby belly hugger as a baby shower gift for my cousin's baby, who is due in December. I love the fact that it is neutral colors, so it could be for a girl or boy. The giraffe face is so cute! It's soft so it won't irritate baby's sensitive skin. It fastens around baby's tummy with velcro, making it easily adjustable. It says it fits newborn to twelve months, which I would think it could be used for little ones older than that, as long as it would still secure around their tummies. This is a great shower gift as many new moms might not realize how rigid a baby tummy can get at times due to gas or whatnot. I gave one of these belly huggers to a friend who has a newborn and she gets a lot of use out of it. However, one must be careful when heating the gel pack. The pack should be wrapped in a damp town and microwaved for 20 seconds on medium power. These gel packs will explode in the microwave if those directions are not followed.
