These are, without a doubt, the finest scissors I've ever held in my fingers. I've got a bit of engineering training, so there are things I look for and when I see them, I tend to take notice. There are 2 sources of friction when cutting hair with scissors. There is the friction of cutting hair, which is affected by hair texture and blade sharpness. And then there is the friction from within the scissor itself, at the pivot and blade. These minimize these frictions to make cutting hair as effortless as humanly possible. First, the grind on the blade is world class. Razor sharp, you could take it apart and shave with it. Put it back together and cut hair. What a fantastic edge. BE CAREFUL, lol.The other friction point, the pivot, is ball bearing and near frictionless. Being dead serious, if you've never held a set of, what to call them, "world class scissors" is I guess appropriate, then the first time you plug your little fingers into these and cycle them open and closed, you may think something is wrong with your brain. You brain will go, "Hey, I've felt all this friction from scissors my ENTIRE LIFE, now where did it go?!?" You will literally be taken aback by the smoothness with which these operate. I'm an engineer, and I was quite amazed. The friction, what friction there IS, can be adjusted by turning the finger screw which click-click-click tightens or loosens in nice, sure-feeling ratchet-type indents. No need for a screwdriver. The chrome and polish is beautiful, and like my other pair of "normal" scissors from these guys, I'm not throwing the box away these came in. These are being kept IN THE BOX because they're just too pretty and shiny and awesome to be tossed in a drawer to clunk about. Leave the $30 scissors to clunk about in a drawer. Put the $130 scissors back in the box. These come with a set of inserts in the finger holes, which should make small-fingered folks very comfortable. Those of us with larger digits can remove them for a better fit, as I had to do.And a word about the steel. I'm an engineer, I can't NOT talk about the steel. The description of these state they are made of Japanese AICHI stainless steel. It does not state WHICH AICHI stainless steel is used (I would be interested to know, AOLANDUO). I do know AICHI makes many metal products, including stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium. Of particular note here, however, AICHI makes AUS 8 and AUS 10 stainless steels (which I suspect these are made of one or the other). I HOPE these are AUS 10 or better. Whatever they're made of, I do know that AICHI is actually VERY STICT with the heat treatment process of their steels. Which lends me to believe the steel and heat treat quality of these scissors should be VERY good, and should last a lifetime.I was amazed by the quality of these. I kept thinking, where is the friction? I'm used to friction. You'll get that too, the first time you use them. Trust me on that. Whether it's you looking for these for yourself, or perhaps you know someone going to graduate from cosmetology or barber school, these would make a lifetime lasting gift, even if it's for yourself. If you want a set of scissors that will hands down get the job done, take the word of someone with an engineering background who loves these. They're exceptional in every way. Read more

Read more
